I wish I'd had one to focus on during that time when I was going through a similar situation.

With no history of complicated pregnancies or preterm labor, I went into preterm labor with my first son (my first pregnancy) around 31 weeks. They were able to stop it and give me steroid shots for lung development, and then home for bedrest. My water broke 3 days later. Scared out of my mind, my nurse told me that "white boys are the weakest"...I will never get over the cruelty of that comment, I was already afraid enough. Ethan was 4 lbs 15 oz, neded CPAP and a ventilator, but was breathing on his own after 12 hours. He spend 4 weeks in the NICU before coming home with us. He is a vibrant, strong, and healthy 3-year-old who noone would ever guess as a preemie (most people guess him to be 4!...take a peek...www.thesuburbanzoo.blogspot.com). My twins were born last December at 34 weeks 4 days and had similar NICU experiences, though they spent only 3 weeks there. Babies are tough and technology is amazing. My thoughts are with you!Hilaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04758336855075082395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-178657934065016194.post-21442152138370524552009-10-16T13:45:12.009-04:002009-10-16T13:45:12.009-04:00Hello. I also wanted to share my story in hopes that it will give her hope. I lost 4 pregnancies before my doctor started me on progesterone. In my fifth (and successful) pregancy, my amniotic fluid started leaking at 30 weeks. It finally broke just shy of 32 weeks. My daughter Emma was predicted to weight less than 3lbs and need a ventilator. Needless to say we were beyond scared. She was born at 5lb 9oz and screaming her head off. She spent 3 weeks in the NICU and is now a happy and healthy 14 month old. I wish someone had share with me a positive and encouraging stories such as mine. I was too scared to enjoy any part of Emma's birth and still can't remember much of it. I hope this helps.
