Life As We Know It

It has been way too long since any update of substance. I am so sorry! Somehow my days feel like they're flying by...living life in three hour cycles is quite a change of pace for me.

So, some long overdue updates, and just some other things that have been on my mind. Buckle up... this is sure to be all over the place.

Job update-- My job is still up in the air. The ball is rolling, and our request for me to amend my leave and return to work on June 1 in order to keep my position at my current school goes before a review committee this Friday. I don't want to have to go back in June, but I am willing to in order to not have to transfer to a school that could potentially be over 90 minutes away. Please pray that the request is approved and my position will be secure.

Eliana update-- She is doing great! Her 1 month checkup went very well last Friday. She's up to 8 lbs and is 21 inches long. Her newborn clothes are getting a bit snug, but she is swimming in the 0-3 month things! She also started on Zantac for her mild reflux, and it seems to be helping her a lot. She still has a strong sensitivity to any dairy in my diet, so when I end up consuming some accidentally, it makes for a rough day for her. She is becoming much more alert during the day, and has even started to smile! Here's a picture of our litle sweetie on last night's walk... the first one for which she actually stayed awake!

Spencer update-- His grad school program is coming to a close, thankfully, and he graduates in May!! This year has been pretty grueling for him, and I know we're both ready for him to be finished.

Isaac's Playground update-- Our church building is set to be complete this summer, and from what I am hearing, there's a good chance the playground will be finished right along with it. I am so excited... excited for our new church building, excited that the playground will be built, excited to see little kids playing on it, and so amazed at God's provision through the generosity of so many people to make this happen. I feel really fortunate to be able to honor Isaac in such a neat way.

Isaac's Golf Tournament update-- The 2nd Annual Isaac Timothy Delisle Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, August 20, 2010 at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, MD. If you're interested in playing, becoming a hole sponsor, donating a prize, or being involved in some other way, please feel free to check out the tournament website, or email us at isaacsgolftournament@yahoo.com

And on a random note, in the past two weeks, I have met two other little girls named Eliana. Neither of them spell it the same way, but I was shocked to meet other girls with that name! Both of them are under a year old, so maybe the name Eliana is on the rise? I had never heard of it before a kind blog reader left the name suggestion in a comment..now I am bumping in to Elianas everywhere!

Lots of thoughts still being mulled over about the transition of being a mom to a child who has died to a mom whose child is living, how the Lord stretches and prunes you through the gift of motherhood... they're just not coherent thoughts yet :)

So now, I'll open it up to you. Anything you've been wondering or want to know about?

Hi Stacy! I just wanted to let you know that I love all of the things that you guys are doing to honor Isaac. The playground idea is so perfect, especially because you can take Eliana there to play when she's big enough. I know you know that already, I just wanted to comment. :) She is beautiful, I'm so happy for you guys!

Eliana is so beautiful! I hope that the school board approves your leave. I'll be praying for you.

I am a 2nd grade teacher and had an Eliana in my class last year. Her family is from the Phillipines but she spells it the same way! :)

She is just as beautiful as ever! Thanks for the update. I pray that your request will be approved and your job situation resolved so that you won't end up having to commute so far away. Congrats to Spencer for his upcoming graduation! So exciting. I am so thankful to hear that everything is on track for your church and Isaac's playground. I can't wait to see pictures once it is completed!

My daughter was 8 pounds when she was born and she was able to wear newborn size for several weeks I think from what I can remember so you might be able to get a few more uses out of those. :)

I am praying for your job situation!!! Do you guys still need volunteers to put the playground together? I'm game to help after I get this cast off on the 28th!!!

I'm glad to hear that everything is going well. Praying for your job also. I can relate to the name thing. We picked Preston because we knew no other Prestons. Brittney Spears went and named her son Preston and now they're all over the place. I like to think of mine as the original!

Here's a tip I learned from a friend: streeeetch those onesies when you pull them out of the dryer - they'll last a smidgen longer! Worked for me with my nephew, who lives with me for now while my sister his Mommy finishes college.

Beautiful! Cutting out cheese, milk, etc, really helped my kids with acid reflux, also. She's sure to outgrow it by 6 months or so, though.

Good luck to you guys!

My son has reflux as well (he's 5mos). Though his doesn't seem to be diet aggravated.
At her age now she's probably taking her Zantac well enough but soon enough she'll likely decide that it tastes super yucky and start pushing it out with her drool.
One thing that helped with making sure my son took his Zantac was to load up the dropper and hold it in my right hand, hold a pacifier in my left and insert a few mL of the meds followed immediately by the pacifier. The pacifier sorta forced him to suck and then swallow the meds. It made all the difference in the world in him actually taking and swallowing a full dose vs spitting a good chunk of it out. It also made mealtimes a lot easier on him too.
Glad the playground is really coming together. Once its there, even though its a bit of a drive, I'll make sure my son and I come and visit it.

It sounds like it is all coming together they way God intended. You do so well being patient :)

I can't wait to see pictures of the playground upon completion. The thought of the kids playing on his playground melts my heart.

And I do have one question...are you getting his foundation setup too?

Stacy, Just wanted to tell you again what a joy it was to hold your sweet, beautiful baby yesterday. Today is the 2 year anniversary of the night we lost our Macy Jane. Holding Eliana Jane was a timely reminder of God's graciousness. I will keep praying about your job situation.

Hi Stacy! I 'm so excited that things are going well!
My second-born was seriously sensitive to dairy as well, so I know what you are going through on that count. I learned how to substitute tons of stuff for cheese...
I will be thinking about you in the coming weeks and praying for your job!

She is absolutely beautiful. Many prayers for your job situation. I know how stressful that can be, especially in today's economy. You are an amazing mom, nurturing and growing sweet Eliana all while keeping Issac's memory and story alive. Having lost a child as well, I am in awe of your strength. There are still days it is just hard for me to get through.

Blessings,
Amanda

Forever missing Gavin 4/7-5/3/08

I'm so amazed by her full head of hair, she's just so adorable. I want to hold her. :-) Noah was on Zantac for the first 4 months of his life too. It helped him not throw up everything. Thanks for everything that you've shared. You are an amazing mommy! :-)

Praying that the school board will approve your leave. It is all in God's hands - whatever he decides to do will be perfect. Eliana is so beautiful! I love her little alert face in the stroller picture. I bet she loved the stroll! Glad to read things are going so well! I am excited about the playground too - that will be such a special day to SEE little kids playing on it!

I've written this previously, but I also have an Elliana. I agree that the name must be on the rise. I thought we'd 'made it up'. Then I learned that it is a fairly common hispanic name.

Glad things are better.
