One Week Old!

I can't believe that Eliana is already a week old! How did it get to be Thursday again?!

We've really enjoyed being at home spending simple moments together, like taking a snooze with dad...

And, when she's not being held and snuggled, Eliana seems to love her bouncy seat!

Here are a few shots of Ellie at one week old this morning...

I had my first "moment"this morning... you know, the ones that sort of catch you off guard? I was bringing Eliana downstairs and as we walked by Isaac's picture that is hung on the wall of our living room, she looked up at it and was captivated. She just kept staring at his sweet face... and I lost it as I whispered to her, "That's your brother, Isaac..." knowing that those pictures are all she'd know of him on this side of Heaven. While that's not a new concept for me, it was the first time it played itself out and it just made my heart ache. I am sure that there will be more moments like that... that sadness intertwined with so much joy. Today, though, we are just so thankful for the thirty-seven weeks we've had with Ellie inside my tummy, and the one beautiful week she has been here with us since her birth.

Ellie is such a beautiful baby. She would have loved to have known her big brother, Isaac. I am so sorry this has to be difficult during a time of happiness. You are such a strong woman and mother.

Those moments are so hard, I experience them almost everyday myself looking at the pictures of my brother, and I tell Alex all about his Uncle Greg and how much he would've loved him. It definitely hurts the heart. She is gorgeous Stacy, I'm so happy for you and know you're loving every second.

She is a gorgeous baby. Isn't it amazing how quickly the time goes by. I was just telling my husband this morning that I cannot believe our little one is already 10 days old.

I should know better than to read your blog anywhere but home. I got to the part where you talked about her looking at Isaac`s picture and got a huge lump in my throat only to end up sitting here in PF Changs crying and trying to read it ti Archie. I am sure it will not be the last moment like that but I am glad that you are enjoying little Eliana just the same. We love you guys and still pray for all of you every night.

She is beautiful!!! I just love her! We also lost our first child, Natalie, shortly after birth, and now that our second, Malachi, is almost 3, it always gets me when he says her name and talks about how she lives in Heaven with Jesus...happy and sad all wrapped into one. Praying that each day is more wonderful than the last! :)

It's amazing how Eli looks so much older than she is! Maybe it's the hair or the fact that she's got more 'baby fat' than a lot of newborns and it gives her a more 'mature'look. Babies love to look at other baby pictures. We put a big smily baby photo from a magazine taped to the seat in front of the car seat so little Kris could stare at it as we rode along. It seemed to intrigue her for many weeks of peaceful car rides!

she is beautiful and I can't believe how much hair she has! Just wait until she can speak Isaac's name when she see his picture. My daughter Lauren is 2 and the first time that we were walking down the hallway and passed my brother's picture and she shouted his name I wanted to cry but was so happy that she recognized her uncle whom she will never get to meet.

She's gorgeous. I know that you'll have those bittersweet moments, but God is going to bless you with a lot of just sweet moments to balance it out as well. Congrats on your daughter- who is already aware that her big brother watches over her, I'm sure.

What a precious little girl! I love all that hair! I know what you mean about those feelings...we've been the same way as we talk about Logan with Bella and Bree. Your heart just aches for what they will be missing out on. I try to keep it in perspective, though, by reminding my girls that they are never alone...that their big brother is their guardian angel who is always watching over them...just as Isaac is always watching over Eliana. How perfect! Love and prayers to you all!

I wanted to lt you know how happy I am for you and your family ...your baby girl is so beautiful! I have followed your blog for many years as i too have struggled through heartache and disappointments trying to start our family. My husband and I just adopted a newborn boy born on 1/20/10 after 9 years and many many miscarriages and fertility treatments and failed adoptions too. He is such a blessing and I know how you must be feeling. Enjoy her and always know God has a plan for all of us even though we don't always know why or what it is for.Life is a gift for all of us so we must enjoy every moment. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Barbara

Seriously, could she be more beautiful? I love that you are enjoying every precious moment-she is so special. Those moments 'with' Isaac surely grasp at every being of your heart, and yet are a welcomed reminder of your son. No doubt he is dancing with Jesus rejoicing at the birth of his sister.

She is beautiful. I admit that I am jealous of all that hair. For two reasons, first of all I do not have hair like that and second not one but both of my kids had little or no hair until they were two.

Keep enjoying her and making sure that she knows about Isaac.

Prayers for happiness.

Your Ellie reminds me so much of my Ava as a newborn. She had a lot of dark hair at birth, too! Ava is now 3.5 and she still has an amazing head of hair! Congratulations to you and your husband! You so deserve these special moments with your sweet daughter after everything that you both have been through.
