Eliana's Song

A couple of months ago, after we had already named our daughter, a friend from high school left me a comment on Facebook that Christy Nockels, one of Christian music's finest, has a daughter named Elliana (spelled with two l's). While part of the group Watermark, they recorded and produced a song named after Christy's daughter, called Elliana's Song...

Baby woman, tiny in stature now
But your heart is a treasure
Little princess come follow behind me now
I am reaching for you

(chorus)
Elliana, God has answered my prayers
Elliana, God will conquer my fears
To mother a daughter, to look you in the eye
To know that I had everything, to walk with you in life
To give you to Jesus that He would impart
The wisdom that I'm longing for to mother your heart
Elliana, God has answered my prayers

There will be others to lead and to guide you girl
But only one you'll call Mother, the honor is all mine
To show you what a woman's like
I'm so glad you're mine

(chorus)

Tenderness of God is twirling around
In our living room tonight
Lighten up your daddy's eyes
And know that he just wants to freeze you in time

(chorus)

I think I have shared before that Eliana means "God has answered." Isn't it beautiful? Click here to listen.

She and her husband came to sing and speak at our church a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if you are aware, but she experienced a lot of loss with her babies. I'm not sure of exact details, but they did have a terrible time getting pregnant and lost babies. She has a great testimony and I'm glad to see she put it to song!

I'm a friend of Ashly's and follow your blog. I'm praying for you and your sweet baby girl!

God has answered my prayers, too! One of our twins is Elliana. I had never heard this song before, and I am so glad you shared it. If you don't mind, I might just have to link to the song on my blog, too! :-)

In Christ,

That's so special, particularly because the Knockel's know what it's like to lose babies. Their song Glory Baby has been so special to me.

I blog-hopped and found you :) I have a 6yr old named Elianna. It's a beautiful name and I love that song. I can't wait to share it with her when she is older. What a perfect name for your daughter. The name can also be translated "MY God has answered me." I love the ownership in that meaning. That he is OUR God. Many blessings on you and your coming answer.

Isn't it amazing how God brings things into our lives (like songs) to show us even more perfectly His provision? Using someone else's words to capture perfectly your heart's song?! It bolsters our faith even though He's under no obligation. What a loving God we serve...

I found your blog post tonight while doing research for my Elianna. She is 17 months old and is chronically ill. We are at an important crossroads in her treatment right now, and I am personally fighting to trust and give it over to the God who formed her. Thank you for posting this so that He could use it to encourage me. Blessings to you, and to your Eliana.

A friend of mine from college shared this song on my Facebook page today and I found your blog while searching for printed lyrics to it. My daughter's name is spelled Ellyana, but pronounced the same. Just a variation from the original Hebrew, which I see you used. She turned 5 months old yesterday. She has a 16 month old big brother named Isaac. I saw that your firstborn's name is Isaac. I am so sorry for your loss, but I know you will see him in Heaven and he is in the presence of Jesus in this very moment. God bless you and thank you for sharing this blog. Know that it is a blessing, even to strangers!

Wow this is so amazing! I called my daughter Eliana after this song too! I never though my husband would go for it so I kept it to myself! One night he was looking through a names book and asked me so how about "Eliana"... It was so amazing! Divine intervention! And guess what is her younger brother called...Isaac! God is Good!
