Snow Day

We FINALLY got some measureable snow around here. As teachers, this is a glorious thing! Not only is it an unexpected day off (or on out case... now the SECOND day off!), but it is also so beautiful. Here are a few pictures I took around our neighborhood yesterday...

Here's our house...

A view of some other houses on our street...

As Spencer and I were talking to the pizza place in our neighborhood to have lunch, we saw all these kids trying to sled down the hill here. We obviously didn't get a lot of snow (evidenced by all the grass poking through), so the kids would sled about half way down and get stuck... and they try to scoot their way down the rest of the hill. It was pretty funny...

No, not enough snow to compare to anywhere else in the nation and the feet of snow some places have been getting, but enough snow and then ice to close schools for two days! What a gift... Spencer and I have both been pretty exhausted, and so it has been nice to have some unexpected time to catch up on rest, spend time with each other, and catch up on things we never quite seem to get around to doing (like putting away a box of Christmas gifts that is STILL sitting around!)

What state do you live in? That is so funny they cancel school for 2 days! We are expecting 20 inches of snow today! I live in Maine. Our schools are also closed today! Enjoy your time off!

Enjoy your snow days, working for a heating and air conditioning firm, that is something we have only had about twice in the 29years I have been here. And then you best have waist deep snow.

I just started following your blog so I have no idea where you live, but I am guessing somewhere in the south! I live in MI and we have about 20 times that snow but I grew up in GA and I remember those days when everything was cancelled yet you could still see the grass through the dusting of snow. I SO miss those days! Enjoy it for all of us stuck in a state that doesn't ever shut down!

I remember as a child of a teacher that mom looked forward to snow days just as much as we did. Have fun with your days off!

It's funny you mention snow days, because I'm also a teacher and I was also off yesterday and today. Yesterday my husband didn't have to go to work either, but instead of feeling like it was time to "catch up," I was annoyed that he took over the TV!! hehehe. Today he had to work, so the TV is mine! Well... except... we just watched Sesame Street, and we will more than likely watch Barney in a while....

Ha Ha Ha Wow!! They call of school for a snow day when you can still see the grass? I live in Minnesota and they dont cancel school when its -10 or when we have 4 or 6 inches of snow coming! We just manage to somehow get to school!

I think they have closed schools like 2 times this year!!

That is crazy, Enjoy the day off though! How nice it is for you :)

We've lived in both Virginia and Ohio, and we chuckle all the time over the difference between the states up north that are prepared to deal with massive amounts of snow and the states down south that close down at the very possibility of snowfall. I'm so glad you all got the day off! School was cancelled here in Ohio today too, a rarity--but considering our mailbox is now completely buried underneath the massive snow drifts, I can understand why they didn't want folks on the roads. Enjoy your time off!

Don't you just love the excitement over a couple of inches of snow. I'm definitely a warm weather person, so the snow is about the only thing that I love about the cold weather! I love the pic of the kids sledding on the half snowy hill.

Hi, Stacy. I saw your comment on Big Mama's blog. I'm so sorry about Isaac. I can't even imagine.

One of my friends is 29 weeks pregnant with a little girl who won't live. She stopped growing at 16 weeks, so they don't know if they'll even be able to hold her. My heart breaks for them.

I'm praying for you today!

I just found your blog yesterday and your strength simply amazes me. You may not think you are strong - but believe me - you are. Your little angel may not be with you physically - but he's with you always in spirit. I'm sure you already know that.

Thank you for showing me what true faith and strenth really is.

Woo hoo for snow days! Our city was pretty much shut down yesterday (Indianapolis) - we got about a foot of snow! Crazy! Amazing what ice can do!

Glad you got some much needed rest!!

Oh, that's funny! I too live in MN, like one of your other readers. We did get two days off right before President's Day. Thus, we had a five day weekend!
You must have gotten a lot of ice, because that snowfall is pathetic. :) Truth be told, our two days were due to crazy cold weather. Real snow days are few and far between around here.
